When we announced our shift from free site to subscription in mid-September
2004, these were the responses from those already using us. As you have registered,
click on to Message Board from EXTRA on the floating menu bar,
or use the FORUMS link from either side of the home page.
You will find all of the following in the General Soccer Forum,
posted between September 18th and October 1st, 2004 in
the following threads: Changes at Soccerlotto, IN OR OUT, IN OR OUT (2) and
Free Life membership of Soccerlotto.
CHARLIE BROWN:
***I can't believe anyone that has used this site on a regular basis
would even hesitate to pay the subscription. I have used this site for about 6
months now maybe even longer and I just cannot believe how high the quality
of the information is and also how much there is of it.
I have a
look everyday, there is SO MUCH I know I always miss something. I actually select
my investments from the following members, Holdi, Davkel, Perman, SittingBull,
Woody, Dooby, Maheyside and a couple of others. So far, not eveyrone has been
correct in the same set of matches, BUT by spreading the risk the profits have
been outstanding. Thank you all very much.
As a whole the site has
also helped with my discipline as far as gambling goes, and as a result I
am looking forward to the rest of the season. Oh yeah and then its the Ozzy footy
and I don't need to make any further comments there do I.
In summary
there are a lot of sharks out there and I have been caught out by a couple, but
you guys here are a real breath of fresh air.
ADE –
Why would I not continue with the best site/hosts/members on the
net?
FLYWHEEL:
This site as we all know has been getting better and better week in
week out. The information as I have said before is second to none. The tips,
jokes, comments and general chat by 99% of the members is worth the subscription
alone. I for one will not hesitate to pay and let’s face it anything worth having
costs so come on let’s not lose any of our decent members lets all chip in and
boldly go and reach further than any other site can only dream about.

NECO:
I remember when this was a subscription service
a few year back as i subscribed to it then. In these days it was a postal service
and was worth it then. I won’t mind paying my subs again as the site is the best
around. With the postal service you got all Perman’s tips, lotto plans, generated
form for the footie and write ups on all the pools matches. Bought all his books
as well and still got most of them (won £400 using his planning a pools win).
Now with it being interactive we the subscribers can get involved by giving our
tips (hopefully winning ones from me) and views on everything. Also the
banter is brilliant and well worth the subscription fee alone. So i will
be there when the new site takes off. (Oh know I hear you all say will that mean
more losing naps of the days). Well you can always lay them to lose and make a
profit.

KERMIT HORLOCK:
I have
been absent without leave for a good few months now but I will certainly be subscribing.
The site is top notch. Cheers guys.

SPIKE FERNDALE
I have been giving money to the
bookies for years without really thinking much about it. Since February, I have made a Loss February,
Loss March, Profit April, Profit May, Big Profit June, Profit July, Profit August
& probably Big loss September. My own fault, in being too greedy.
I have learnt a great deal from members on the
site. Whenever I have posted a query on the site a member has posted a reply
pronto.
I am sure if I had not discovered the site by
accident I would still be throwing money away. At least now I think I can give
the bookies a run for their money. The information and support given on the site
is great.
I WILL DEFINETELY SUBSCRIBE TO THIS SITE
It is informative and helpful, entertaining and
hilarious at times. but always with the main objective being of BEATING THE BOOKIE.
The people who have been picked for life memberships thoroughly deserve it, as
they are the people who are always on this site and giving advice.
*****************************************************************
CABBAGE:
Spike, you seem to make great sense to me.
I don't like the idea of "us" and "them" with regards
to those granted life membership, but I also see that the major contributors of
the website deserve something for their hard earned effort.
I guess
I probably will subscribe, even though I only make use of the message board, and
occasionally the site tips.
*****************************************************************
HUNGRY HIPPO:
Perman, I want to say that this is the only site
that has enough quality for this. I would have supported this site even without
the developments. Happily I have given an opportunity to do it without quality
postings. On any other site I would have left but on this occasion I'm so
in - without any hesitations at all.
Keep up the good work and
best of luck in the future!
*****************************************************************
BMD DEXTER:
I must say although I do not post a great deal,
I for one will definitely subscribe to this site. It’s the most friendly
and profitable site I have ever visited. May for ever the great tipping
continue not only by Perman but by all you other great football tipsters.

SEADOGSYKES:
I will be in. I normally run the length of Scarborough's
south bay beach when asked to pay a sub for hitherto free sites, but this one
is worth it.

OZPOOLS:
Dear Soccerlotto
members:
I think the fact that this site has been free for so long is a miracle
and I know the sacrifices that Perman has made to keep it running have been enormous,
AND at the cost of him being able to do the same job he does here (for free) for
big bucks from paid-for editorial of which, I'm certain, there is no shortage
of offers.
Having
been a member since almost the inception of this site I have seen many members
come on board and turn a losing habit of a lifetime into a winning one from the
wealth of FREE expertise (which I consider to be the best around, paid -for or
not) posted here.
If ever a site promoted responsible gambling
then this is it. That is surely borne out by the absence of pop-up ads for bookies
that clutter other sites - and I am guilty of that coz trying to run a website
while holding down a day job is nigh-on impossible and anything that subsidises
one's free time is grabbed with open arms.
Perman however resists such temptation and concentrates
on providing information only - whether individuals use that information to gamble
or not is up to them, and the onus is on them to find the outlets where they can
do so.
Finally a very good point about magazine subscriptions
PM. If Soccerlotto was a weekly magazine no-one would be able to lift it, or
have a letterbox big enough for it to fit through!
I believe that one day in the not-too-distant
future ALL magazines will be electronic. All articles will be instantly searchable
from a database (as they are here) without the need for spending hours sifting
through piles of magazines, and without the environmental implications of producing,
and disposing of, all that paper. And that's not just a hunch, but through information
received, a vision of the future that's already being mooted at very high levels....
...Welcome to Soccerlotto, welcome to the future !
Oz
P.S. Remind me, what became of the Dinosaurs ?
CAPTAIN_SLOG:
I agree about the magazine bit Oz. I probably
pay more for the Racing Post every year and get less information than on the Soccerlotto
site - and that's not to mention the fun, interaction and info from everyone on
the message board.
The few bob I stuck on Bolton after Perman’s recommendation,
paid for six months this weekend alone.
*****************************************************************
DAFFY D:
Without Soccerlotto I'd have to talk to the wife
I'm in.
*****************************************************************
SILVERWHISPER:
Well I am in too. I may be a newbie but I love
this place already. Anyway what’s 40 notes nowadays? I spent far more than that
on Friday night on Lager/a curry and a taxi. Only to get up with a hangover and
watch it all being paid for with 2X Bolton. Cheers boys.
*****************************************************************
DAVEGEE:
Thanks
Nigel for your e mail. I am eagerly awaiting be able to join your new Soccerlotto
forum. The cost required is very reasonable
so it cannot be the money-if you haven't any then don't bet in the first place.
I have been a member for quite some time but only rarely contribute, mainly because
I have so much respect for the opinions of yourself and certain existing members,
that any tips I may suggest would be an embarrassment among the riches already
offered.
There must be many like myself who really treasure
the service you offer and I nowadays never place a football bet without consulting
your site. I now also take the Non League newspaper (in-addition
to RFO- over 50 years) as due to Holdiman and others NL football "turns me
on".
Also congratulations to B365 who are the mainstay in offering
odds for the minor matches. If the site is too successful therein lies a danger
that the minor matches will disappear.
Looking forward to this weekend
and October 4th.
*****************************************************************
D.THOMAS:
Couldn't agree more, Dave.
The annual
sub will cost a fair bit less than buying the RFO each week (though I will continue
to do that). And the wealth of information available on the site - even before
any upgrading - is far better than any printed publication could offer. The message
board gives a valuable insight to how people think about betting, let alone the
quality of the tips provided. On top of that, the message board is a good read.
All for around 80p a week. What more do people want?
*****************************************************************
OZPOOLS:
I must say I really cannot understand the fuss
that introducing a modest subscription has created here - at the end of the day
Soccerlotto is an e-zine, and compared to both other e-zines and regular magazines/journals
(RFO included) the fee is incredibly cheap.
How many people here do
virtually a full days work for nothing? I thought not. Yet that is exactly what
Perman has been doing for several years with this site, except that rather than
doing it for nothing he has been subsidising it out of his own pocket from his
editorial earnings. As a magazine designer I work closely with journalists and
most of them wouldn't give you the time of day without submitting an invoice,
let alone devoting their time to a site like this. Back in the day when my Oz
soccer site ran up-to-date results and tables (coz no-one else was doing it) I
used to spend upwards of 10 hours a week inputting that information, and that
was just a miniscule fraction of the information that this site carries. And I've
heard the argument here that it's information that Perman produces anyway for
his RFO pieces. Well, maybe some of it he does, but he sure as hell doesn't produce
it for the RFO in HTML format, and I'm sure that most members here (Alistair H
definitely excluded) don't realise how f***ing difficult it is to convert text
information into cross-platform HTML that can be read by the 5 or so different
Web browsers out there that run on Windows, Mac and Linux.
If you're
still in doubt, from the time you read this post until the same time next month
add up all the money you spend on un-necessary luxuries such as alcohol, cigarettes,
sweets, takeaways, meals out, ready-made sandwiches, film rentals, and dare I
say it football ground admissions, and then compare it to the cost of membership
here. And if you're still not convinced, compare the ROI on the aforementioned
list (clue - it's a VERY round figure) with the ROI on the information provided
here by the dedicated members who are staying.
If you are still determined
to leave then goodbye and the very best of luck to you. I hope if you do find
that elusive free lunch that you enjoy it, but personally I wouldn't trust the
chef not to have not put all the out-of-date ingredients into it.
In
this life you get what you pay for, and if you pay nothing, then nothing is the
VERY BEST you're gonna get !!!!!

HOLDIMAN:
The amount of information contained in
the site, added to the knowledge displayed by members on a wide variety of sports
in the Message Board section is an essential tool for any reasonably serious gambler.
I also appreciate the time and effort taken by Perman to attend to queries, pass
on advice and maintain the right balance.
Good luck to Soccerlotto -
those who choose not to continue, for whatever reason, will be the losers.
****************************************************************
BILLYMAC:
Having
made a resolution a long time ago to stop purchasing books on gambling and replying
to every piece of "junk mail " that comes through letter - box,I am
now faced with the Soccerlotto Subscription .Do I or don't I? Since first discovering
the site I have learned a lot from all contributors. Although my main interest
is football, I have recently been having a' flutter' on the horses. I find the
tips supplied here are top quality. In another post I shall 'reveal' how use them
to do the Placepot. So I have decided to 'sign up'. The subscription will come
out of my Account in Totalbet - for this year at least.
****************************************************************
ALISTAIR H:
I'd like to throw my not inconsiderable weight
behind the changes happening to the site. Being in the IT business I fully appreciate
the amount of work that must go on maintaining soccerlotto.com. Indeed, I'm amazed
that it's been free for so long.
The quality of tipping both on the
site and within the forum I believe is second to none. I only started football
betting 12 months ago and the lessons I have learned from the many contributors
to this site, not to mention the encouragement and the banter, has made this hobby
of mine all the more enjoyable (and profitable). I only hope that others
can say the same for my contributions.
The planned additions outlined
in Perman's announcement can only help us in our quest to beat the bookies and
£40/year seems to me to be exceptional value for money. Following Perman's tips
alone will very quickly pay for the subscription. Whilst the site may well lose
a number of members I personally think it will be their loss. I for one shall
be staying...
Hopefully once my house issues are sorted, and I'm back
on broadband I'll be able to resume my various threads. In the meantime, good
luck with the improvements Perman and keep up the exceptional work.

REEKO2002:
I can't understand why some people are getting
so upset about £40. It is hardly a fortune is it?
The content on this
site speaks for itself and I am quite happy to contribute. Without wishing to
kiss anyone’s bottom, it is clear that the guys responsible spend a lot of time
and effort running this site.
Still I'm glad the something for nothing
gang will still be able to afford their 5p Lucky 15s each week…..

KEBABKING:
I am a very small time gambler. I was introduced
to this site by DJL after giving him a few darts tips way back after the big Aussie
tip in 2000 found it's way to him via a mutual friend. he suggested that instead
of e-mailing my run-downs, I should post them directly here.
As a
message board junkie, I immediately found the place welcoming & one of the
most respectful boards on the net. I have enjoyed the place so much that it's
one of the four sites I check every day along with the AFC Wimbledon site, PlanetDarts
& Bondage Weekly (damn, I didn't mean to mention that!)
The idea
that the site would become chargeable has been an open secret for quite a while
& I don't think anyone could say they are surprised by it. Nor can they say
that the charge isn't fair or value for money! The info here is incredible &
as someone who runs a darts web-site of immeasurably inferior content (quick plug,
sorry - //www.toe-the-oche.co.uk/ ), I know how much work must
go into maintaining it.
I remember
e-mailing DJL soon after he recommended this site & saying "What have
you done to me?" as it was so much fun, not just in the fact that there were
great tips here, but also that the banter was good to be involved.
